18K Yellow Gold Crownwork® Framed Sardonyx Owl Pendant
Across nearly every culture, the owl is the keeper of hidden knowledge, sacred to Athena, guardian of the night, the one who sees what others cannot. Fittingly, it appears here in sardonyx, the storyteller's stone of antiquity, prized by the Romans for signets and seals and long believed to grant its wearer courage and eloquence.
Each carving begins by hand before a negative mold captures every detail. From this mold, a copper stamp is created for the design and then the remarkable part: placed atop the stone in an ultrasonic machine, the copper plate carves the image directly into the sardonyx using sound waves, a marriage of ancient artistry and precision technology
The carved stone is framed in our signature Crownwork®, our signature grid pattern inspired by the hidden architecture of antique crowns, and finished with a detachable bale so the pendant moves easily between chains and strands.
