Retail Spotlight - Gladstone

Tell us a little about Gladstone, how long have you had your beautiful store?

Gladstone was founded in 2008 and we opened our store in Manchester-by-the-Sea in July 2011….13 years ago!

Our collection started exclusively with timeless antique and vintage jewelry designs which we sourced in our travels and marketed through trunk shows. Over time it has evolved to an eclectic mix of exceptional designer fine jewelry, unusual antique/vintage, and our own signature and bespoke designs which are locally fabricated by hand. 

What do you love about Manchester-by-the-Sea?  

This beautiful little town is full of New England seaside charm! 

You sell a mix of art and jewelry, what sort of artists do you represent? 

We find that the art enhances the jewelry and vice versa. Our seasonal fine art exhibitions include painting, photography, and works on paper by renowned and emerging artists. Often the artists are friends!

How long have you been working with Ray?  

Since 2009 - 15 years! It's been a very successful and most enjoyable working relationship!

What do you love about the line?

Ray’s gold crown work and gemstones designs are beautifully made and timeless — not to mention, colorful, versatile and very well engineered. We (and our customers!) love the way that all of Ray’s pieces work and layer so well together. It makes it very easy to build on and enhance your collection for everyday or elevated dressier looks. There are endless ways to put it all together! The pendants are transformative as they instantly create a statement piece when clipped onto one of Ray’s lovely crown work link necklaces, bracelets, or beaded necklaces.

What can we expect from a RG trunk show at Gladstone?

A lot of joy all the way around! We and our customers look forward to our trunk show with Ray all year long! Not only is Ray an incredibly talented jeweler and knowledgeable gemologist, he brings exciting new designs, great stories, and that Aussie charm that we all love. 

Do you have a favorite RG piece?

Just one? It’s too hard to choose! Ray has an eye for exceptional gemstones and color…so those pieces are always among the favorites. We have been smitten with his fiery opal designs recently, but always do love a signature gold crown work bracelet, necklace, or earring.... Perfect RG go-to pieces for everyday!

Gladstone is known for its beautiful poppy window boxes every spring.
