This is a 18k yellow gold Edwardian style Crownwork® ring with oxidized silver center featuring tanzanite center stone and pave white diamond surround. This is Ray’s take on a classic British Regency Ring, he loves making these rings because they are extremely comfortable, timeless and very chic. The shank is arched to fit over the webbing on the finger, so it sits close to the knuckle on the hand and elongates the fingers. Oxidized silver has a beautiful historic feel for jewelry ( think Austro-Hungarian empire ) and is a wonderful contrast to gold. It looks rich and strong and as a setting material it’s soft and easy to bezel stones in deep. When it’s oxidized it is really polished black so the stone pop with rich saturated color and look luxurious.
Tanzanite comes only from Tanzania. It is heat treated, either underground naturally by metamorphic processes, or artificially to give it its rich violet color. Diamond is a very precious gemstone, diamonds take billions of years to form deep within the Earth’s crust under conditions of intense heat and pressure that cause carbon atoms to crystallise, forming diamonds.
