This is an elegant Tahitian pearl pendant capped with 18k yellow gold small Crownwork® finial with pave diamonds in oxidized silver. Oxidized silver has a beautiful historic feel for jewelry ( think Austro-Hungarian empire ) and is a wonderful contrast to gold. It looks rich and strong and as a setting material it’s soft and easy to bezel stones in deep. When its oxidized: really polished black, the stone pop with rich saturated color and look luxurious. The bales on our pendants/charms have a beautiful etching detail on them, they give the wearer the ability to wear their piece on different chains or use them as a charm on a bracelet. They are designed to sit at the front of the piece so they won’t snag your clothes. The design inspiration for the finials are the Moores in Spain. It’s my translation of the columns in the Alluhumbra Palace. The design is a very old world form that fits jewelry perfectly and I use it in many configurations throughout the collection
Pearls truly are one of nature’s gift to us. They are a mixture of mineral and organic material formed within the soft living tissue of a shelled mollusk. When dirt gets inside the shell it is an irritant to the pearl. The pearl releases albite (the saliva) that glues onto the pearl to smooth it out. Pearls represent purity, honesty, integrity and wisdom. They are the birthstone for June and make the perfect gift (especially for yourself)
